With the October 2018 update, versions of Creative Cloud and Document Cloud are not available for deployment via serial number licensing. On November 30, 2020, many customers will also be affected by expiring serial numbers. To avoid interruption and to access the latest versions of the apps, customers must migrate to alternate licensing models. For more detail, see the announcement.

If the volume serial number has expired, users may experience licensing or serial number errors. You can use the AdobeExpiryCheck tool to check if the volume serial numbers have expired or are expiring soon. If they have expired or are expiring soon, it is recommended that you re-serialize with a new serial number.
AdobeExpiryCheck (v1.0.0.3) is a command-line utility for IT Admins to check whether Adobe products on a computer are using serial numbers that have expired or are expiring. IT Admins can use this tool if they are not sure whether the serial numbers used in their organization are expiring or if they want to identify the machines with expiring serial numbers.
With the AdobeExpiryCheck tool, admins can get the information about the product licensing identifier (LEID), the encrypted serial number, and the expiration date. To identify installs for Acrobat Professional DC and Standard DC, see Identifying Document Cloud Installs.
Once you have collected the output files from all the client machines, you can store them in a folder and run scripts to find the machines having expiring or expired serial numbers. For example:

Device licenses allow institutions enrolled in the Value Incentive Plan (VIP) to license software to a specific computer. Also, users never have to sign in or enter a serial number to access apps.
Creative Cloud for education device licenses provide the ability to license software to a specific machine instead of a named user or with a serial number. Users never have to sign in or enter a serial number to use the software. Licenses are tied to machine deployment pools, which are created automatically when you order products.
For example, if you create a RemoveVolumeSerial file using the serial number 1234-1234-1234-1235, and deploy it on a machine which is using the serial number 1234-1234-1234-1236, all Creative Cloud for enterprise products running on the machine are deactivated.
Okay I guess there has been a lot of talk in regards to Adobe Encore CS6 being dropped out of the CC family, and not being supported,but we still want to use it. The issue I have just discovered after wanting to create my recent holiday DVD is that I cannot open Encore even after it asked me to enter my serial number. I looked at my account details which only had the CS3 serial number not the CS6 that was an upgrade many years ago. It now comes up with 'Invalid Serial Number' . I tried talking to Adobe customer service but without and luck . Has anyone found a way around this issue as this seem to be a very common problem being experience by a lot of frustrated user.
What Adobe did about 2 years ago was stop offering PPro/EncoreCS6 as part of a Premiere Pro subscription... so if you did not already own PProCS6, with a serial number, you could not activate the bundle
Just the final update on the issue of not being able to Login to Encore CS6. From Adobe (and which I was already aware of) that Encore is no longer supported in any way but also they have turned off the servers that carried out authentication when you tried to log in. Therefore any serial number you entered when requested was going to come back as Invalid Number. So from Adobe, can't help and therefore Encore isdead in the water.
